Born and raised in Bavaria Germany, Matthias' family is one that for generations bred, raised, trained and competed horses. It was this passion that led Matthias' father to open an equestrian hotel facility on their existing farm, that allowed individuals to share in a vacation experience that revolved around horses. Matthias , grew up not only riding from the get go but learned to a great extent all the detailed requirements that make up any great horseman. From breeding, raising, breaking and training young horses to detailed feed regimen, specialty shod alternatives and horse sales that paved the road to the introduction of many horses on the European and US show circuit.
Starting at the age of six years old he was taking part in his first Pony Fox Hunts and shows. Continually striving to improve his riding, Matthias trained and worked hard to achieve rider's licenses and trainer's certificates in various equestrian disciplines.
Through much hard work and dedication, Matthias was able to develop several horses from the lower showing ranks to advanced international levels of competition. This included his self imported Australian Thoroughbred Gelding
Carramar Dylan, and the Holsteiner Stallion
Grundy's Sohn, with whom he was a member of the German Equestrian Team in Eventing with.
Matthias' mentors and personal trainers have included
Dr. Dieter Schuele, who has been the Dressage judge for the International FEI Olympic Games 2004 in Athens and the World Cup Finals 2007 in Las Vegas,
Siegfried Hemtken to Krax, winner of over 100 Jumping Grand Prix and
Christoph Woerner who taught the training methods of the legendary
Anthony Paalman that Matthias still implements on the training of the horses that he rides. To these individuals he owes much gratitude.
