Eventing Guidelines

To do List for Three Day Eventing Competitions

 

Registrations:

Rider:  
USEF (www.usef.org)            
U
SEA (www.useventing.com)

Horse:
USEF, USEA ( USEA limited registration is o.k. for horses competing up to training level only – upgrade later possible)

Beginner Novice level competition, registration not required but recommended
Horse Owner:
USEF


Equipment:

(See  detailed  rules for Eventing dress code and legal equipment under www.useventing.com/rules)

 

Dressage:

Rider: Safety Helmet, Dark Coat, Stock Tie or Tie, White shirt with Collar, Gloves, White or light color Breeches, Dressage Boots, round Spurs (no rowels, or sharp edges)

Horse: Dressage Bridal with legal Bit, Dressage Saddle, Dressage Saddle Pad, optional: Breastplate, Braiding required

 

Cross Country:

Rider: Safety Helmet, Body Protector, Polo Shirt with Sleeves, Breeches, Field Boots, Spurs, Crop, Eventing Watch, Medical Armband

Horse: Jumping Bridal with legal Bit, Breast Plate, Jumping Saddle, Jumping Pad, 4 – full size  water proofed Safety Jumping Boots, Studs

Optional: Bell Boots, Vet wraps, Studs, Running Martingale

 

Jumping:

Rider: Same as dressage + Field Boots and crop 

Horse: Jumping Bridal with legal Bit,  Breast Plate,

Jumping Saddle, Jumping Boots, Bell Boots,

Optional: Studs (on grass) Running Martingale

 

Competition Dates:

Check Omnibus for Area IV  and my recommendations on attachment

 

Entries due:

Approx. 2-4 weeks before competition in full, including stabling (Approx. $400,00 total per show/per horse entry)

Ride Times:

One week before competition posted online on show organizers web site

 

Horse Transportation:

Organize accordingly with shipper

Transportation Equipment: Halter, Lead Rope and Shipping Protection and Blanket or Fly Sheet for horse

 

Stabling, Feed, Water and Bedding:

Available on show grounds, but I recommend to bring the feed horse is accustomed to.

Bring buckets, feeders, closed containers, hay bag, stall guard, tack trunk etc.

Grooming equipment, halters, lounge line, coolers and blankets, ice horse boots,

poultice, paper towels, stable wraps, First Aid Kit, water hose,  etc.

 

Medication and treatments for horses:

No medication allowed, Treatments limited

Pay attention to detection time of recently given medication, wormers, joint supplements, etc.

 

Show Grounds Transportation:

Bicycle recommended, outdoor clothes recommended   

 

Show Accommodations:

At some show grounds limited,
